Prayer focus for the week beginning 10th December 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Edna Cook (Funeral
Tuesday 12th December at 10.45am at St Marys’ Tetbury), Anthony “Tony” Fletcher (Funeral
Friday 15th December at noon at St Marys’ Tetbury), Charlotte Ind (Funeral Monday 18th December at noon at St Marys’ Tetbury and Jean Pearce (Funeral Wednesday 3rd January at 11.30am at Holy Trinity, Long Newnton). We give thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
• Praying for St Mary’s School: Year 6 Rowan Class with Mr Godfry and Mrs Eke
• Local issues: for the concert to be given by the St Cecilia singers in St Marys church on Sat 16th December – may the words and music enhance the joy and wonder of the Christmas message. Also remember in prayer the Celebrate Christingle event on Sunday December 10th at St Marys church, that many families will attend and celebrate the coming of Jesus into an ordinary family.
• National issues: Pray for those facing homelessness this Christmas. May they be welcomed into safe spaces.
• World issues: 10th December is Human Rights Day: let us pray for a more just world, where the rights of individuals and nations may be restored and flourish. Remember especially the people of Ukraine, Israel and Gaza.
