
Prayer focus for the week beginning 17th December 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)
• Tetbury Praying the Town: Newleaze Gardens
• The Parish of Long Newnton
• For the Christmas tree and church decorators, that they may have inspiration and imagination as they beautify our church to the glory of God
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Charlotte Ind (Funeral Monday 18th December at noon at St Marys’ Tetbury, Kathleen Kirkby (Funeral Friday 22nd December at noon at Holy Trinity, Long Newnton) and Jean Pearce (Funeral Wednesday 3rd January at 11.30am at Holy Trinity, Long Newnton). We give thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
• Praying for St Mary’s School: Year 6 Oak Class with Mrs Danton and Mrs Weston
• Local issues: pray for our local schools, that their Christmas activities of songs, readings and plays will remind the students and staff of the true meaning of Christmas
• National issues: Pray for the emergency and health workers as they serve over the Christmas period
• World issues: As we enjoy shops full of special festive food, we pray for the many people in the world wondering where their next meal will come from. May we work towards a more just society, and be generous in our support of charities.
