Prayer focus for the week beginning 17th September 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)
• Tetbury Praying the Town: Grove Gardens, Upton Gardens & Highfield Road
• The Parish of Long Newnton
• ‘Open the Book’ organiser, Lesley, and story tellers at St Mary’s CofE Primary School – may they be filled with fresh enthusiasm and commitment as the new school year begins
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Rob Bell and Susan Townsend ( Funeral at Westerleigh Crematorium on Friday 15th September at 11.45am). We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.Local issues: give thanks for the opportunity to hold regular services at Upton Mill care home, and that these can be expanded and draw in more residents
• Year’s Mind: Zed Tatchell (13/09) and Simon Preston (20/09). (“Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death –often a difficult time for family and friends)
• Praying for St Mary’s School: Year 1 Pear Class with Ms Leake – Mrs Amor/Mrs Bell
• National issues: for wisdom for the government as it seeks to address the ongoing issue of housing refugees and making fair decisions about the future of each individual
• World issues: Pray for those affected by floods in Libya and the earthquake in Morocco. Pray for countries especially in Africa where there is currently political turmoil and military violence – pray especially for Niger, Mali and Chad. Give peace in our time, O Lord.
Save us, Lord our God…that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Ps.106 V47
