Prayer focus for the week beginning 20th August 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks to God that He is a God of compassion:
• Tetbury Praying the Town: Court Field
• The Parish of Long Newnton
• Tetbury Church Shop organiser and stewards, whose interaction with visitors is so valuable
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Paul Pegler (Funeral on Tuesday 29th August at 2pm at St Marys’ Tetbury) and Nick Stokes. We give thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
• Praying for Max Hutchison and Bethany Howlett who are getting married in St Marys’ Tetbury on Saturday 19th August, for Ewan Lewis and Faye Barber getting married on Wednesday 23rd August in St John the Baptist, Shipton Moyne and for Stephen and Rachel Stewart having their wedding blessed in St Marys’ Tetbury on Thursday 24th August.
• Praying for Niamh Jones being baptised in St John the Baptist, Shipton Moyne on Sunday 27th August and her parents and Godparents
• Local issues: please pray for the young people of Tetbury, that they may have positive activities and friendships during the summer holidays
• National issues: for wisdom for the government as it seeks to balance the urgent issues of tackling climate change with solutions which are realistic and do not unduly affect the poorer members of our society
• World issues: Pray for ‘the peace of Jerusalem’ – that the government will listen to the concerns of the people over the recent law passed to limit the powers of the judiciary, and that all may work together for the common good and that democratic rights may be protected
Be still, and know that I am God. I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth! Ps.46:10
