Prayer focus for the week beginning 3rd December 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)
• Tetbury Praying the Town: Mercer Way, Hatters Close, Clothiers Close and Wickhams Field
• The Parish of St Marys
• Give thanks for all who plan and volunteer at our social and fundraising events through the year
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Edna Cook (Funeral
Tuesday 12th December at 10.45am at St Marys’ Tetbury), Anthony “Tony” Fletcher (Funeral
Friday 15th December at noon at St Marys’ Tetbury), and Jean Pearce. We give
thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
• Praying for St Mary’s School: Year 4/5 Elm Class with Ms Browning and Mrs Lee
• Praying for Harley Bryant being baptised at St Marys’ Tetbury on Sunday 3rd December and his parents and Godparents
• Local issues: for the Advent reflection and carols at St Marys church on December 3rd, that it may be a time to focus on the amazing news of Emmanuel, God with us in Christ, sharing our lives and bringing hope. May many hear the good news this Christmas.
• National issues: as pressure builds on families to spend money on Christmas presents, we pray for wisdom and realism, so that people don’t accrue debt which can’t be paid for.
• World issues: from the 25th November, the UN is calling for 16 days of activism against gender-based violence against women. We pray for the protection of women everywhere.
All things are possible with God. Mark 10:27
