Recording of Sunday Worship, 7th September
In worship we start our celebration of the Season of Creation through September.
This morning, our focus was God as creator, understanding that as the world belongs to God so we are called to be good stewards of his creation. In our reflection we share pictures sent in of people’s special places in nature.
Worship is led by Poppy Hughes

This is the statue of Saint Kyneburga, the co-founder and abbess of the first religious community in the eighth century at what is now Gloucester Cathedral.
In her name, there is now The Company of Saint Kyneburga and membership recognises and honours people who have served and enriched the life of the church in Gloucestershire. This year, Wendy Hanvey was made a member in recognition of her dedication to the life of the church and community in Leonard Stanley. She and her husband Paddy recently moved from there to Tetbury, so it was my privilege to present her (with the help of Paddy) with the Badge of the Order this morning. I promised to include the full citation here:
“Wendy Hanvey has been a dedicated member of St Swithun’s Church and the local community of Leonard Stanley for many years and radiates her faith in the way she lives her life. She has served as Churchwarden; Deanery Synod Rep; Pastoral Assistant and Worship Leader, notwithstanding her care in the background for the sick and dying. She is a gifted caterer and a keen flower arranger, including arranging flowers in the cathedral. Over the years she has organised and run many fundraising events.”
Many congratulations to Wendy.
