80th Anniversary of D-Day in St Marys’ Churchyard

D-Day logo

Everyone is invited to community events to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day – the largest naval, air and land military operation in history. This event will be marked across the world as a time to remember the selfless sacrifice and courage of all those involved and use this Commemoration to pay our tribute to those who gave so much to secure the freedom we all enjoy today.

St Marys’ Churchyard, Tetbury. The event opens with bell ringing at 6.30pm then with music and a light display as people gather. At 8.45pm there will be a short act of commemoration, with the Nailsworth Brass Band and a piper, as we share in hymns and readings, with the D-Day Tribute read by Deputy Lieutenant, Caroline Duckworth DL, as representative of the Gloucestershire Lieutenancy. This is followed by the lighting of the beacon on the church tower at 9.15pm.
