Walking with God

Our Psalm this week – Psalm 85 – creates a beautiful image of life when God is directing our way. It describes peace, mercy, truth and righteousness joining together, to experience the goodness of life. It’s something the artist John August Swanson depicts in the painting below, and you might like to use this as a focus of reflection. This image is, of course, in stark contrast to our Gospel account of the murder of John the Baptist, where we witness the destructive power of fear and arrogance. And so our prayers are for a closer walk with God in all that we do and all that we are.
