Women of the Republic of Vanuatu (located in the South Pacific Ocean) have prepared this year’s service. The black and white sandy beaches, coral reefs with coloured fishes, lovely birds, fruits and nuts in the forest, all make the islands a pristine environment but they are vulnerable to frequent tropical storms, earthquakes, cyclones, tsunamis and active volcanoes. These 26 reflections are brought together in the recently-published “Candles in the Dark:  Faith, hope and love in a time of pandemic”.  Each reflection invites us to think and pray afresh into our experiences of lockdown and the Covid-19 pandemic. Home groups meet on Zoom each week through Lent.  There are groups meeting during the day and in the evening – and each group has 8-12 participants.  The leader guides the…

Origami for Lent at Christ Church Origami might sound a strange spiritual practice, but we have found it can be a fun exercise with a prayerful side to it! During Advent we created some of the characters in the Christmas story with a short reflection on that character and a prayer. We will do the same during Lent with characters from Jesus’ journey to the cross. Each person has their own piece of paper and we follow the instructions given.
