Prayer focus for the week beginning 11th January

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

  • Tetbury Praying the Town: New Church Street
  • The Parish of Shipton Moyne
  • Pray and give thanks for our Vergers in their duties which include supporting families coming for baptisms, weddings and funerals
  • Local issues: Give thanks for the life of Lorna Dallimore’s mother, Greta, and pray for comfort for her family at this sad time. Also, pray for the wedding preparation day to be held at Shipton Moyne church on 17th January, that it will help the couples attending to be better equipped for the joys and challenges of married life, and that God will be central in their marriage.
  • We pray for St Mary’s School and particularly Mrs Hawkins and Mrs Begum and the pupils of Willow class
  • The Departed and those who mourn their loss including, Diana Mills, Sheila Chivers, Charles Walker and Katherine Hills. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
  • Year’s Mind – Nicholas Wheeler (8.1), Kate Ward (13.1) & Richard Turner (15.1) – “Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death – often a difficult time for family and friends.
  • National issues: With the continuing cold weather, pray for all those struggling to keep warm, especially elderly, sick or homeless people. May those around them be aware of their need and offer appropriate support.
  • World issues: Bring before God the current involvement of the USA in Venezuela, that the people’s rights and sovereignty may be respected while halting any harmful drugs trafficking.
