Prayer focus for the week beginning 12th October

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

  • Tetbury Praying the Town: Glovers Way, Tailors Walk, Quercus Road and Draper Close
  • The parish of Shipton Moyne. Also, uphold in prayer the Festal Evensong to be held at Beverston church with Bishop Robert on 12th October, and the Harvest Festival at St Marys, followed by a shared lunch.
    Sunday 12th October will be the final service for the Revd. Peter Hyson and his wife Hilary at St Marys church. Give thanks for their fellowship and service at St Marys and in the benefice and pray that God will fulfil His loving purposes for them and guide them in their future service. Also, give thanks as harvest is celebrated at St Marys, to be followed by a shared lunch.
  • The Departed and those who mourn their loss. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
  • Year’s Mind – Lee Peglar (13.10) – “Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death – often a difficult time for family and friends.
  • We pray for St Mary’s School and particularly Mrs Makin and Mrs Bell and the pupils of Holly class.
  • Local issues: give thanks for the wide range of local U3A activities, and for all those involved in their organisation
  • National issues: pray that safeguards will be put in place to protect young people from becoming addicted to on-line gambling
  • World issues: give thanks and pray for Christian organisations such as Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) seeking to bring food, medical and other aid to remote regions, while sharing the Gospel and supporting Christian workers
