Prayer focus for the week beginning 13th September

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

• Tetbury Praying the Town: Cheviot Close, Suffolk Close & Shepherds Mead
• The parish of Long Newnton
• Give thanks and pray for our Food Bank organisers and helpers. May the food resources reach those families who genuinely need help.
• Pray for St Mary’s School, particularly Mrs Eskain and Mrs Walton and the pupils of Lime class
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss, particularly remembering Simon Pullin. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
• Year’s Mind – Michael Van Sloots (17.9) – “Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death – often a difficult time for family and friends.
• Local issues: pray for the local youth organisations as their activities resume, and give thanks for the commitment of the leaders
• National issues: Give thanks for our MPs as they return from the summer recess, that they will govern wisely and pass laws that are in the best interests of the country as a whole
• World issues: Thursday 15th September is the International Day of Democracy. Give thanks for our democratic freedom and our right to vote, but remember in prayer those countries living under oppressive rulers. Pray especially for women and girls living under such brutal restrictions in Afghanistan.

Hear my prayer, O Lord God Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob. Ps.84: 8
