Prayer focus for the week beginning 24th December 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)
• Tetbury Praying the Town: Northfield Close, The Orchard and Northleaze
• The Parish of Shipton Moyne
• Please pray for our clergy at this busy time, that they may have wisdom as they present the familiar Christmas accounts with fresh insights, also that they may have time to spend with their own families.
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Charlotte Ind, Kathleen Kirkby (Funeral Friday 22nd December at 12, noon at Holy Trinity, Long Newnton) and Jean Pearce (Funeral Wednesday 3rd January at 11.30am at Holy Trinity, Long Newnton). We give thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
• Praying for St Mary’s School and Sir William Romney School as they break up for Christmas
• Local issues: Pray for peace, harmony and hope as local families celebrate together, remembering God’s most precious gift of his son, Jesus.
• National issues: Give thanks for the churches and organisations providing Christmas lunches and other activities for those who would be on their own at Christmas
• World issues: Pray for the time when the message of the angels, ‘Peace on earth, goodwill towards men,’ may become a reality in our broken world.
