Prayer focus for the week beginning 24th May

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

• Tetbury Praying the Town: Bath Road
• The Parish of Long Newnton
• Pray and give thanks for our Church Fabric teams in the important work they do to care for our buildings
• We pray for St Mary’s School and particularly Mrs Boswell and Mrs Thornbury and the pupils of Cherry Class.
• We pray for Alexander Cronin & Lucy Read being married in Holy Trinity Long Newnton on Sunday 24th May. We pray that it will be a very special day and the start of a life-long commitment, with God at the centre of their relationship.
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
• Year’s Mind – Jeanne McKenzie (24.5) – “Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death – often a difficult time for family and friends.
• Local issues: pray that the annual Woolsack Races will go smoothly and safely on Bank Holiday Monday, and give thanks for all those involved in organising this unique local event.
Pray also for blessing on the Holiday@Home tea party to be held at Christ Church on the 29th May, and give thanks for all involved in running it and serving.
• National issues: Pray that our airports will run peacefully, safely and calmly as they cope with extra passengers travelling during the bank holiday week.
• World issues: Monday 25th May is International Day for Missing Children. Pray for their safety and wellbeing, and give thanks for all organisations which reach out to children in distress, such as those running helplines.

The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. Ps.116:5
