Prayer focus for the week beginning 27th August 2023:
Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)
• Tetbury Praying the Town: Cutwell
• The Parish of Shipton Moyne
• The Food Bank organisers and helpers, as they support families in need; also that people will give supplies generously as demand increases
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Paul Pegler (Funeral on Tuesday 29th August at 2pm at St Marys’ Tetbury), Nicholas “Nick” Stokes (Funeral on 30th August at 3pm at North Wilshire Crematorium) and Susan Townsend ( Funeral at Westerleigh Crematorium on Friday 15th September at 11.45am). We give thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
• Praying for Nathan Rowe and Holly Kings who are getting married in St Marys’ Tetbury on Saturday 2nd September.
• Praying for Niamh Jones being baptised in St John the Baptist, Shipton Moyne on Sunday 27th August and her parents and Godparents
• Local issues: Give thanks for the youth activities which have been taking place in the recreation ground during the summer holidays
• National issues: pray that there will be adequate accommodation available for students going to university, with many landlords selling up because of rising mortgage rates
• World issues: Friday 1st September is the World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation: pray for all those individuals and communities seeking to restore our natural environment
