Prayer focus for the week beginning 2nd June 2024:

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

• Tetbury Praying the Town: Beech Tree Gardens, Gastrell Court, Courthouse Road & The Retreat
• The Parish of Long Newnton
• Please remember in prayer the Electoral Roll Officers, also the PCC meeting for St Marys to take place on Wednesday 5th June
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss remembering especially Laetitia Hardie and Brenda Hatton. We give thanks for their lives, and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
• Year’s Mind Pat Boulton (30/05) and Yvonne Amor (07/06). (“Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death –often a difficult time for family and friends.
• Praying for William Birdwood and Catherine King who are getting married in St John the Baptist, Shipton Moyne on Saturday 1st June.
• Praying for Benjamin Margesson and Victoria Clark who are getting married in Holyt Trinity, Long Newnton on Saturday 8th June.
• Praying for Skyla-Jane Smith who is being baptised in St Marys’ Tetbury on Sunday 2nd June and her parents and Godparents
• Praying for St Mary’s School: Year 2 Holly Class with Mrs Makin – Mrs Walton
• Local issues: please pray for the Count on Nature event to take place in St Marys churchyard, that the weather will be fine and that all who help or visit may have an increased awareness of God’s creativity in the abundance of wildlife and our need to care for it appropriately.
• National issues: for the national remembrance events on 6th June to mark 80 years since the D-Day landings, giving thanks for the peace we have enjoyed as a nation since the end of the war, and remembering with gratitude those who risked or gave their lives in the cause of freedom
• World issues: As we celebrate the D-Day landings, let us pray again for countries torn apart by conflict, especially in largely overlooked countries such as Sudan, where millions have been killed or made homeless.
Pray also for World Environment Day on Wednesday 5th June, especially for innovative solutions to be found to improve land that has become infertile; also for World Food Safety day on Friday 7th, and World Oceans Day on Saturday 8th June.

I trust in the steadfast love of God for ever and ever. Ps.52:8
