Prayer focus for the week beginning 30th November

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

  • Tetbury Praying the Town: London Road, Jubilee Place & Combers End
  • The Parish of Beverston
  • Give thanks for all who were involved in running the Christmas Fayre last weekend, and for the large sum of money raised as a result for church funds. Give thanks too for the friendship and community spirit – may visitors have felt this and recognised it as part of our Christian outreach.
  • We pray for St Mary’s School and particularly Mrs Danton and Mrs Weston and the pupils of Oak class
  • The Departed and those who mourn their loss. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends
  • Year’s Mind – Christopher Painter (6.12) – “Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death – often a difficult time for family and friends.
  • Local issues: Give thanks for the life and service of the Revd. Richard Maslen, whose funeral takes place on Wednesday 3rd December at the Church of the Holy Cross, Sherston at 2.00pm. Remember, too, his wife, Margaret in her time of loss.
  • Pray also for the Christmas lights switch-on and fair in the town centre on Friday 5th December, that the early evening event will proceed safely, especially with young children being present.
  • National issues: In the build-up to Christmas, pray for safety for all those delivering post and packages. Pray also that the rumoured strike by delivery people may be resolved and averted.
  • World issues: Continue to hold up before God the people of Gaza, praying that the tenuous ceasefire may hold, especially praying that the aid lorries may enter safely and distribute food, water and medical supplies fairly to those who are desperate for help. Pray especially for our brothers and sisters in Christ still in the area.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matt.6:10
