Prayer focus for the week beginning 6th September

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

• Tetbury Praying the Town: Cotswold Close, Jacobs Close & Rylands Close
• The parish of Beverston
• Remember in prayer the ‘Open the Book’ organiser and storytellers at St Marys CofE Primary school, especially as a new term begins.
• We pray for Andrew Duckett & Deborah Thurman being married in St John the Baptist Shipton Moyne on Saturday 12th September. We pray that it will be a very special day and the start of a life-long commitment, with God at the centre of their relationship.
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss, particularly remembering Sally Parkhouse & Lynnette Booy. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
• Local issues: Pray about the proposals to build a large number of houses on land near Longfurlong Lane. May the decisions finally made be in the best interests of the local community and nature, as well as those needing housing.
• National issues: Wednesday 9th September is Emergency Services Day. Give thanks for the dedication, courage and skill of all those who are employed or work as volunteers in very demanding and often dangerous situations, and pray for their protection.
• World issues: Pray that the current attempts at a negotiated ceasefire in the Middle East may continue and have a positive outcome

Hear my prayer, O Lord God Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob. Ps.84: 8
