National Day of Reflection: Tuesday 23rd March

March 23, 2021

We’re supporting the National Day of Reflection on 23 March, the first anniversary of the UK lockdown, to commemorate this tragic loss of life and to stand together with everyone who’s grieving. Organised by Marie Curie, the National Day of Reflection looks to reflect on our collective loss, support those who’ve been bereaved, and hope for a brighter future. As well as observing at minute’s silence at noon, you are also invited to join Night Prayer for the Benefice at 7pm on Zoom, and then at 8.00pm to  ‘share the light’ by putting lighted candles and lanterns in windows. The life-giving cross This morning, as we continue our journey through Lent, we enter Passiontide. In our Gospel reading, Jesus speaks of his impending crucifixion and yet, in that pronouncement, speaks too of the promise of life in his death. Focussing on this theme of “dying to live” we reflect on how God’s salvation is being worked out in the midst of this darkest hour. Worship is led by Liz and Popppy.

Celebrating Mothering Sunday This Sunday we say thank you for all those who have mothered and nurtured us.  In our Old Testament reading, we hear the account of the baby, Moses, saved by the courage of three women:  his mother, his sister and the Egyptian princess.  And, for Jesus on the cross, enabling family and relationship remain at the heart of his love for humanity.  And, in our reflection, we share some “thank yous” for gift of the mothering. Worship is led by Poppy and Peter.

Loving and Trusting in God Our Old Testament reading from Exodus recounts the giving of the Ten Commandments – first and foremost, the call to love God above all things, and to put our trust only in him. In our Gospel reading, Jesus then expels the traders and money-lenders from the Temple, for turning his Father’s house into a den of thieves. On this third Sunday of Lent, we reflect on how often we pour our love and trust into “false gods” and hear again the call to love the Lord our God “with all your heart, and with all…

Ash Wednesday Service, 17th February

February 17, 2021

As Lent begins, we mark Ash Wednesday very differently this year. In our zoom service tonight we start the season by reflecting all that separates us from loving relationship with God and with each other. Instead of the traditional imposition of ashes, which is not possible, everyone is invited to bring a stone marked with a cross as a focus for reflection in the service Click on this link to join Worship https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81407920423 Meeting ID: 814 0792 0423 The password has been sent out be email.
