Following the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II ,we offer our prayers in memory of her long and faithful service, and pray for His Majesty the King and The Royal Family at this time. A Book of Remembrance has been opened in St Mary The Virgin & St Mary Magdalen, Tetbury, for the people of the parishes of Tetbury, Beverston, Long Newnton & Shipton Moyne. Temporary closure of St Marys’ Churchyard 8-9th September

Temporary closure of St Marys’ Churchyard 8-9th September This is to enable tree felling. The Town Council in conjunction with the PCC of St Marys’ Tetbury have sought permission from Cotswold District Council to remove one fir tree from the churchyard of St Marys’. Permission has been granted. The tree in question is by the North East door of the church. It has roots growing towards the church building which have already caused significant damage to the path and may potentially damage the church itself. In response to the above Gloucester Diocesan initiative and Poppy’s moving sermon on Sunday, we are planning to meet for Morning prayer and coffee afterwards on Monday 26th September at 9.30 am in St Marys’ Church. We will also have the opportunity to sign a simple letter to our MP to highlight this catastrophic issue. We will be thinking about how those who are responsible for global pollution can compensate and assist those who are innocent of blame and are suffering the most. Steve Bullock will lead the service.
