Sunday Worship in our church buildings.

June 19, 2021

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ From the many conversations I’ve shared, we now have a plan for returning to Sunday Worship in our church buildings.  For St Marys’ Tetbury weekly services in church will begin on Sunday 4th July, alongside the services already being held in Beverston, Long Newnton and Shipton Moyne. Although this means our Zoom Worship will come to an end, we will be live-streaming the 10am service from St Marys’, with the recording put on YouTube as we do now for Zoom. Thank you to John Sharp for all is he doing to make that possible.…

Taking Care of our World

June 19, 2021

The RE topic this term in St Mary’s school has been “Taking Care of our World”.  They have been busy learning about important people such as Greta Thunberg and David Attenborough and talked about changes that need to happen to ensure a cleaner greener future. They have also talked about the little things that each and everyone of us can do to help make a difference such as, turn off lights and appliances we are not using, recycle our rubbish and re-use things where possible. The children have made posters that share these messages. You may already know that June…

In our Gospel reading, Jesus uses the image of a tiny mustard seed to talk about the coming of the Kingdom of God.  Although it is “the smallest of all the seeds on earth”, he says,  yet it grows to become “the greatest of all shrubs”.  In this image, we glimpse a powerful picture of the transformation that is possible in God, and his call to us to work to bring in his reign of love, justice, peace and truth. Worship is led by Sarah and Liz.

As we gather we hear Jesus’ call to come together as brothers and sisters in Christ. We reflect on all we share in our life as God’s family, and those things that wound our loving relationship with each other and with God. Worship is led by Poppy and Pauline.

Trinity Sunday This Sunday we reflect on the wonder and mystery of the nature of God: The Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Our God, at whose very heart is relationship and community. Our God who – as seen in the beautiful icon above – reaches out to draw in all people to share in his life. Our God who calls us to then share this same loving relationship and community with those around us, in ways which this year has shown are so vital in our lives and the life of the world. Worship is led by Ian…

Pentecost This Sunday we complete our 50 Days of Easter, when God sends his Holy Spirit to empower his disciples – to empower us – to fulfil the mission which the risen Christ has entrusted to it, to us.  Often described as “The Birthday of the Church”, we celebrate the events of Pentecost, and pray that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may bear the fruits of the Spirit in our lives and community:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Worship is led by Peter and Liz
