Welcome to the Parish Church of
St Mary the Virgin and St Mary Magdalen, Tetbury
There has been a Christian place of worship on the site of St Marys' since at least 681 AD. The present church was built following the demolition of the medieval church in 1777. The church today, with its elegant spire, is a focal point in the town. St Marys' is open every day for people to come and visit, sit quietly, or attend any of the regular services.

7.00pm: Tenebrae In this final reflection, The Revd Pauline Setterfield leads this Tenebrae Service. “Tenebrae” is the Latin word meaning “darkness”, and as we share in the Passion Gospels’ account of Jesus trial, sentence, execution, death and burial, after each segment of the story is read, a candle is extinguished. The final story of the…

The life-giving cross This morning, as we continue our journey through Lent, we enter Passiontide. In our Gospel reading, Jesus speaks of his impending crucifixion and yet, in that pronouncement, speaks too of the promise of life in his death. Focussing on this theme of “dying to live” we reflect on how God’s salvation is…
