Prayer focus for the week beginning 19th January 2025

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

• Tetbury Praying the Town: Newleaze Gardens
• The Parish of Shipton Moyne
• Give thanks for the chalice assistants in this important aspect of ministry
• The Departed and those who mourn their loss including Shirley Hawkins. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
• Praying for St Mary’s School: Year 4/5 Maple Class with Ms Keen and Mrs Royle
• Local issues: Pray for our local police officers as they patrol our streets and help to keep the community safe. Pray for the PCC meeting on Tuesday 21st January, for wisdom and discernment in the decisions made. May there be a spirit of unity as members serve the church community in this way.
• National issues: Pray for small businesses facing higher outgoings because of recent changes to national insurance etc. May their value to the economy be recognised and may they feel encouraged.
• World issues: Remember in prayer the people of Los Angeles affected by the wildfires with so much loss of life and property, and for the firefighters who have been valiantly fighting to contain the flames. Continue to pray for the situation between Israel, Gaza, Lebanon and any other neighbouring countries affected, that innocent lives may be protected, and a way be found to bring a just peace to this troubled region. Pray that the proposed imminent ceasefire between Israel and Gaza may take place, and that hostages will be released safely (or give thanks if these have already occurred).

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Galatians 6.2
