Prayer focus for the week beginning 7th September

Hands

Before you pray, give thanks that ‘You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer. (Ps.86 V.5)

  • Tetbury Praying the Town: Cotswold Close, Jacobs Close & Rylands Close
  • The Parish of Long Newnton
  • Give thanks and pray for the ‘Open the Book’ organiser and the story tellers at St Marys C of E Primary school.
  • Also pray for those couples being married in our churches during September, that it will be a very special day and the start of a life-long commitment, with God at the centre of their relationship. We pray for Daniel Williman and Heather Rae who are getting married on Monday 8th September and for Matthew Cole and Mollie Dennis who are getting married on Saturday 13th September, both in St Marys’ Tetbury.
  • The Departed and those who mourn their loss. We give thanks for their lives and pray for God’s comfort for their family and friends.
  • Year’s Mind – Ruth Smith (11.9) – “Year’s Mind” is to mark the first anniversary of a death – often a difficult time for family and friends.
  • Local issues: Pray for our local shopkeepers, that as the summer season draws to a close and visitor numbers decrease, there may still be a good flow of customers. Also, give thanks for our farmers, who work so hard to maintain our food supplies, especially at this time of harvest.
  • National issues: Pray for children who are starting new schools at this time, that they may make new friends and settle in quickly. Pray also for any new members of staff, that they may feel well supported in their new roles.
  • World issues: Pray about the influence of the USA in world affairs, that it may be a voice for good, upholding justice and peace.

I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted and will execute justice for
the needy. Ps.140 V12
