  Christian Aid Service, St Marys’ Tetbury, 6pm, Sunday 16th May “The climate emergency is one of the greatest injustices we face. Together we can stop this climate crisis.” This is the message at the heart of Christian Aid Week 2021 – and it is our focus as we gather as “Tetbury Area Churches Together” on Sunday evening.  With readings and music, we pray for unity between world leaders on the need to take action for climate justice; that hearts inclined to self-interest and indifference to the suffering of others will be transformed; and for whatever transformation is needed in our own hearts as we respond…

Ascension Sunday This Sunday, as we celebrate the events of The Ascension, we reflect on our faith in Jesus Christ:  God come to dwell among us, who – having died and risen again – returns to his Father, to open to us the gates of heaven.  And we look forward to Pentecost and the call for us now to be the new body of Christ here on earth, filled with his life through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Installation as Honorary Canon Recording from Gloucester Cathedral Poppy was collated and installed  as an Honorary Canon of Gloucester Cathedral on Monday 10th May.  Before the service, Poppy said ” I feel very honoured – and my lovely father was a Canon of Southwark Cathedral, so that connection feels special. It also feels like a tribute to the ministry we have built together here, and this will so much in my prayers on Monday. ”

Christian Aid Sponsored Walk Like many charities, Christian Aid has suffered over the last year. This year Christ Church’s former minister, Stuart Radford, now in Nailsworth, is organising a 6-mile sponsored walk from Christ Church Tetbury to Nailsworth on Saturday 15th May. We will form groups of 6 and leave at 11.30am, going down Chavenage Lane and past the House and Green. Around 1 pm we shall picnic at Ledgemore Bottom before heading down to Nailsworth, aiming to arrive around 2.30 pm. Transport will be available to return to Tetbury.
