NEWS FROM ST MARYS’ OCTOBER 2020 We’ve been celebrating the Season of Creation. For the first time this September, we have taken a whole month to think about the wonders of God’s good creation, and about our call to be good stewards of the earth. We started on the first Sunday with a celebration of the beauty of this earth – and our Worship on Zoom included a reflection with pictures sent in of people’s special places. Opening of St Marys’ Church for Private Prayer Since June 15th 2020 we have managed to keep the front area of the church open daily for private prayer and for the many visitors that have visited Tetbury over the summer. This has been possible with thanks to a small dedicated team who have cleaned daily, unlocked and locked the church. As we approach Autumn, however, having the northeast doors of the church wide open all day to the elements will not do the fabric of the building any good along with any lighting and heating that would be required.…
Come prepared for Sunday Worship on Zoom 10am, Sunday 27th September On this last Sunday of the Season of Creation we come to God who, in Jesus, invites us to share in the Bread of Life. In sharing food, we come together as the Body of Christ, fed and sustained by God and joined in community in the name of Christ. So, on Sunday 27th September, you are invited to bring simple tokens of this meal when we gather for our 10am Worship on Zoom. Traditionally, this would be bread and wine. Or you may prefer a beaker of fruit juice…
Yesterday our curate Pauline Setterfield was ordained Deacon at Gloucester Cathedral. The service was streamed live but you can see the recording online if you missed it. We continue to pray for Pauline as she prepares for Ordination as Deacon at Gloucester Cathedral next Saturday, 19th September. At last! Pauline asked me to share her lovely Ember Card – these are a tradition, sent out before ordinations, asking people to pray for the candidate, their family, the priest they will be working and training, and the people of those churches.
